Just a couple of minutes away from Practice now and it's essentially perfect conditions in Jerez. 41C of track temperature and none of the damp patches we saw throughout the weekend last year.
Reminder that we have no Jorge Martin this weekend after his crash at the Qatar Grand Prix and subsequent injuries. He's replaced by Lorenzo Savadori, and Augusto Fernandez is here again in-place of Miguel Oliveira.
Aleix Espargaro is also in Jerez as a wildcard for Honda. He threatened the top-10 earlier today, finishing 11th, so could be looking at a Q2 spot later on.
Alex Marquez was fastest in this morning's FP1 session, dipping into the 1:36s at the end with a fresh rear tyre.
It was a medium-compound rear, though. The softs will be out this afternoon as the riders look to get their spot in Q2 secured for tomorrow's qualifying session.
Welcome back to live coverage of the Friday practice sessions from the Spanish Grand Prix in Jerez.
Moto2 Practice has just concluded, and MotoGP's one-hour Practice is coming up in just under 15 minutes at 15:00 local time.
Maverick Vinales' 14th-place finish in Qatar was a "real P2" according to Tech3 KTM boss Herve Poncharal.
Speaking to MotoGP.com during the opening practice at the Spanish GP, Poncharal said "We need to be proud of what Maverick [Vinales] and his crew did," and added that the comments made by factory Ducati riders Marc Marquez and Francesco Bagnaia about the performance and behaviour of the RC16 after the session were "a big boost" to KTM.

Ducati's factory duo Pecco Bagnaia (above) and Marc Marquez (below) are running different rear aero configurations at Jerez today.
As you can see, Bagnaia is running a set of strakes underneath each side of the bigger flaps on the tail unit. This could be to help him improve braking stability, particularly in the sprints when he has to run the smaller fuel tank that has been giving him so much trouble.
Marquez, meanwhile, has the standard set-up.

Johann Zarco is a free agent at the end of this season but has done a fine job to warrant an extended stay at Honda.
LCR hopes he will remain where he is amidst rumours of a factory team switch.

The chequered flag is out in Jerez and Alex Marquez is fastest ahead of Marc Marquez and Fabio Quartararo.
Strong session from Vinales in fourth and Joan Mir in fifth. Jack Miller solid too in P6.
P7 for Bagnaia, and Zarco, Rins, and Morbidelli round out the top-10.
Another PB from Espargaro gets him into the top-10, although he's then pushed back to 11th by Morbidelli who goes 10th himself.
Aleix Espargaro up to 12th with his latest lap.
Late PBs coming in from a few riders: Rins up to eighth, Bagnaia goes seventh.
Alex Marquez back to the top now as we're into the final 10 minutes. A 1:36.831 is the first sub-1:37 of the day.
Tough session for KTM so far, apart from Vinales who is still there in fourth. Acosta 16th, Binder just did a PB to go 17th, and Bastianini is only 20th.
A small improvement from Marco Bezzecchi moves him up into the top-10, 0.748s behind Marquez.
Marquez already back in the pits after that turn one fall. He's still second in the session, 0.051s behind his brother, and 0.182s ahead of Quartararo.
Alex Marquez has crashed at turn one. He's running back to the pits, so seems okay. Simple low-side under braking for the Spaniard, was fairly early on, though.
Vinales up to fourth with his latest lap - a strong start for the rider who was denied a podium by a tyre pressure penalty in Qatar.
Marquez goes to the top with his second lap, just in case you were panicking that the early setbacks would be problematic for the championship leader going forwards this weekend.
World feed now reporting that there was an oil leak on Marquez's second bike. He's just now set his first lap of the session at a 1:38.068 to put him 11th.
Strong start this morning for Joan Mir in third place at the moment.
Also, the world feed broadcast is reporting that Marquez has ridden both of his bikes so far this morning so issues with both of his Desmosedici. He's back out on his first bike now, and Ducati are inspecting his second bike.
He stopped at the wrong box, too - stopped outside the Gresini garage.
Marquez now back in again, and still with no time in this session. Not the ideal start for the #93.
