Pedrosa: No brakes!

Dani Pedrosa suffered a major scare at the start of Sunday's Catalan Grand Prix when he arrived at the first turn with 'no brakes'.

Fortunately Pedrosa was leading at the time, otherwise he may have caused a repeat of the Moto2 turn one pile-up, and although the incident cost him time, he was able to rejoin and spend most of the race battling with Casey Stoner.

When Pedrosa's Repsol Honda team-mate Andrea Dovizioso fell from second on lap 15 of 25, Pedrosa moved into the runner-up position, which he was just able to keep from Stoner by just 0.202sec.

"I started very well. I was leading, but just before the end of the straight I got a big shake on the front of the bike and when I went for the brake - empty - no brakes!" said Pedrosa.

"I tell you, at that moment my heart was out! I saw the wall coming towards me and I started to pump the front brake and finally I got it. But anyway I ran off the track.

"I took it slow before I rejoined so I didn't get penalised and then tried to recover because I was far behind.

"I caught Casey when he also made the mistake and we raced together for a lot of laps and finally second. After the start it's not so bad."

Pedrosa remains second in the championship but has lost another five points to Lorenzo and is now 52 behind the Yamaha rider heading into round eighth of 18 at Sachsenring in two weeks' time.
