Whilst the MotoGP race was underway at Assen and all eyes were trackwards, an engine sized box was being carried to the back of the Team Roberts pit garage.

Qatar officially opened.
Qatar's brand-new Losail MotoGP circuit was inaugurated today with a ceremony that included an impressive fireworks display and a riding demo by former GP winner Randy Mamola aboard the Ducati Desmosedici two-seater.

Assen to be shortened.
Assen has announced that it plans to shorten the famous Dutch TT circuit from 6.027km to 4.750km by radically changing the North Loop section in time for the 2006 MotoGP event.

Bridgestone never imagined they'd enjoy such a successful Rio Grand Prix; an event which saw the Japanese tyre manufacturer take pole position, a new lap record and a maiden MotoGP victory against dominant rivals Michelin.

Mixed emotions for Biaggi.
Once Sete Gibernau and Valentino Rossi had crashed out of the Rio Grand Prix, most tipped Max Biaggi to take his first victory of 2004 - and that scenario was acted out until team-mate Makoto Tamada attacked.

With the first six races of the season won by either Valentino Rossi or Sete Gibernau, Rio finally bucked the trend as Camel Honda's Makoto Tamada charged to his and Bridgestone's first ever MotoGP victory.

The Ducati Marlboro Team's 'big bang' twin-pulse engine will make its second grand prix appearance this weekend at Rio, just one week after Loris Capirossi and Troy Bayliss raced the new powerplant for the first time in last Saturday's Dutch TT.

In a meeting held yesterday (Friday), the Grand Prix Commission - composed of Carmelo Ezpeleta (Dorna), Claude Danis (FIM), Sito Pons (IRTA) and Takanao Tsubouchi (MSMA) - unanimously agreed to introduce the following modifications to the Road Racing World Championship Grand Prix Regulations:
