McWilliams returns!

41-year-old Ulsterman Jeremy McWilliams returned to MotoGP action this morning when he rode the 2004 Proton KR V5 in the first free practice session ahead of Sunday's Czech Republic Grand Prix at Brno (pictured).

McWilliams, who last rode for Team Roberts during the 2003 season before a move to Aprilia for 2004 and then BSB with Stobart Honda for 2005, was unsurprisingly slowest of all - but within 0.8secs of Blata WCM's James Ellison after 14 laps.

Ellison however, only rode for five circulations. McWilliams was almost 6-seconds from Ducati Marlboro pace setter Loris Capirossi.

McWilliams was riding (according to the stickers on the bike) with Michelin tyres, while team regular Shane Byrne - prevented from riding the V5 due to his contract with KTM, who withdrew their engine support for Team Roberts after Germany - was in the pits to offer support and watch his former team-mate in action.
