17 year-old Leon Haslam certainly won the bravery award at Le Mans. The British Honda rider broke his left wrist when he fell in the first MotoGP 500 qualifying session on Friday afternoon, and went back to the Clinic Mobile that evening where the doctors decided to have a closer look...

Youichi Ui continued his perfect run of pole positions in 2001 by setting the pace in Le Mans final qualifying - despite a mid session fall, when he missed his breaking point and rammed Gianluigi Scalvini.

The real McCoy.
Garry McCoy returned to the front of 500cc action in a closely fought first qualifying session, for the French Grand Prix, at Le Mans.

Injured Aoki to be replaced by Janssen.
Haruchika Aoki will miss this weekend's French Grand Prix due to injuries sustained at the previous Grand Prix in Spain.

Jacque may miss home GP.
World 250 Champion Olivier Jacque will wait until after the Friday morning practice session at Le Mans before deciding if he is fit to ride in the MotoGP 500cc race, at the French Grand Prix, on Sunday.

Mission One: Introducing Yamaha's awesome YZR-M1.
Yamaha's YZR-M1 broke cover in Europe last week when riders Max Biaggi, John Kocinski, Norihiko Fujiwara and Kyoji Namba spent three days at the Italian circuit of Mugello, running side-by-side tests with the factory's current Marlboro Yamaha Team YZR500 GP bikes.

Suzuki squad seek the French connection.
The fourth round of the last 500cc World Championship takes the two-stroke soldiers to Le Mans in north-western France next weekend, with team Telefonica MoviStar Suzuki riders Kenny Roberts Junior and Sete Gibernau (pictured) both looking for the key to the quirky French track.

Overcautious Edwards angry at two places lost.
Stuart Edwards made his first finish in 2001 with a 26th place in Jerez, but was left angry with a mistake he made when Katoh came to lap him in the closing stages of the 250cc Spanish Grand Prix.

Azuma: I didn't know Poggiali had crashed.
In a compelling 125 race Masao Azuma took a hard-earned win from the third row of the grid. Up to third by lap three, he led briefly on lap seven before settling down with a breakaway group of five at the front.

Criville bounces back.
Alex Criville (pictured on the podium with Rossi) made a great return to form with a gritty third-place finish, closing on Abe towards the end of the race until he was only half a second adrift on the last lap.

Dorna and IRTA sign new five-year agreement.
Two companies that have done so much for the MotoGP World Championship over the last decade enhanced their relationship when they signed a new five year agreement at Jerez today.

Rossi pays Katja a compliment.
The man of the moment, Valentino Rossi, praised the efforts German girl racer Katja Poensgen, after she qualified for her opening 250 Grand Prix.

Ant West wins V-Twin battle.
Australia's Ant West maintained his 100-percent points scoring record in he 500cc motorcycle world championship and won the V-Twin class in today's Spanish Grand Prix at Jerez.
Pop and Bull on the 2-seater YZR500!
Top bullfighter Fran Rivera and British pop star Richard Jones, from the Stereophonics were the latest celebrities to experience the Marlboro Yamaha Team YZR500 twin-seater.

Revitalised Abe 2nd in race and points.
The revitalised Norick Abe produced the perfect start, today in Jerez, to led the 22-bike field into turn one of the 500cc Spanish Grand Prix.

Checa may miss race after huge highside.
Marlboro Yamaha Team riders ended today's final qualifying with contrasting fortunes - Biaggi just a fraction off the front row while Carlos Checa suffered a huge highside during the late stages of the session.

Sabbatani takes pole - then crashes.
Italian Max Sabbatani sensationally stole the 125cc provisional pole from Youichi Ui with 5mins remaining in Jerez - and held the top spot despite crashing out at the first corner after colliding with two slower riders.
