Bagnaia stays fastest for Ducati with a new lap record at Mugello during Free Practice 3 for the Italian MotoGP.

Vinales fell in the closing stages of the session and was pushed out of a top ten place, meaning he misses out direct access to the second and final part of qualifying.

Joining Vinales in Qualifying 1 will be the likes of Marc Marquez and Rossi, with the top 19 riders covered by less than one-second!

All riders set their best times of the weekend so far this morning.

Aleix Espargaro is riding for the first time since arm pump surgery. Injured rookie Jorge Martin is being replaced by Ducati test rider Michele Pirro. Marc Marquez, sidelined for nine months after complications to a broken right arm at Jerez last July, is taking part in his fourth event since returning to MotoGP action - and struggling with pain and lack of strength in his right shoulder.

The official MotoGP top speed record is 362.4km/h (225.2mph) set by Zarco in Qatar earlier this year - and equalled by the KTM of Binder this morning.

With Mugello missing from last year's calendar, the current rookies (Marini, Bastianini and Savadori) plus the 2020 rookies (Binder, Alex Marquez and Lecuona) are all competing at the track for the first time in the premier-class.
