'Huck' aims for title as UKSX hits Exeter.

MJ Church Kawasaki rider Mark Hucklebridge will look to extend his points lead as his bid to take the British Supercross title continues at the Westpoint Arena in Exeter this Saturday.

Hucklebridge finished second in the series last year, after a nail-biting last round, leaving the Oxbow-backed rider more determined than ever for the 2001 series. With only two rounds left, the 23-year old now has a nine-point lead over second and third place, and the Kawasaki rider has yet to finish off the podium and is sure his consistency throughout will help.

"It has been a really exciting series," he said, "I beat Gordon Crockard at the first round in Belfast which, for me, was a great achievement in itself. After that, there has been a different winner at every round."

"To win the championship would be a dream come true. I have worked really hard to prepare for the series, and hope I get the result I want. I need to try and stay consistent as possible and try to win this round in Exeter. I know have the speed and stamina to do this, so I just need a bit of luck to help, The standard of riders is improving with every round so there is no room for any mistakes. It has been a great series so far and I am sure it will continue to the end."

"Exeter is quite special for me, because it is the closest round to my home, and I will have a lot of support there - it would be really great to win."

125 rider Tom Church has steadily improved throughout the series, and now lies in third position after a podium finish at round three and a fifth in Cardiff last time out. The points standings make it hard for Church to be in contention for the series title, but another podium place is not out of the question for the 19-year old.

The Oxbow rider has suffered throughout the season with a form of fatigue, but now looks to be on the road to recovery, as his results show.

"I know that I am very capable of finishing in the top five and, if everything goes right, a podium is not out of the question," he confirmed, "In Cardiff, I got a bad start and fell twice, so I was really pleased to finish in fifth place, and move into third in the championship. I want to try and maintain this position at least, although to move up will be difficult as there is quite a large gap. I am looking forward to Exeter and hope to step on the podium again."

The 125 Pro Class is lead by Stephen Sword, as last year's winner heads the championship by five points.
