The Relentless Suzuki by TAS team have completed their Bennetts British Superbike line-up for 2009 by promoting Supersport rider Ian Lowry alongside Atsushi Watanabe.

Lowry has competed with the team for the last three seasons in the British Supersport Championship, finishing as runner-up to Michael Laverty in 2007 and in third place this season behind Glen Richards and Hudson Kennaugh.

The 22-year-old, who won two BSS races this year, has now earned the chance to graduate to the Superbike class in 2009 with Relentless, a move he is excited by.

"I am delighted to have been given the opportunity, not only to stay with Relentless Suzuki by TAS Racing, but also to get a crack at the British Superbike class," he told the British Superbike website. "I watched BSB on TV as a kid and to be racing in it next year is unbelievable. I do believe I can deliver for the team and I've set myself achievable targets.

"To be working with a factory supported team like Relentless Suzuki is the icing on the cake and I'm sure Atsu's experience will prove invaluable. It will take a lot of hard work and dedication but I'm up to the task and highly motivated."

Expanding to a two-bike team in 2009, Relentless will receive increased backing from the Suzuki factory next season, with team principal Philip Neill confident Lowry can of capitalise on their support.

"We are happy to have Ian with us for another season as he has been a big part of the team," he said. "We wanted to further the career of a young British rider, Ian is only 22 and we believe he is a very talented rider.

"We have a programme that we are putting together for him over the winter that includes testing and training so that he is ready for the start of the season. John Reynolds will also be working closely with him during the season to give him advice and mentor him."

In addition, BJ Toal will join their successful Supersport team, while Cameron Donald will take part in the National Superstock 1000 Championship.

Relentless Suzuki enjoyed a strong season in the top flight this year, with Michael Laverty managing three top five results and an overall finish of ninth in the standings. Nonetheless, Laverty is so far without a ride for next season.
