The first sprint race of the 2026 BSB season got the Bank Holiday Monday action underway at Oulton Park, with the podium matching that of race one, and Kyle Ryde again pulling away to claim a double victory,

The Nitrous Coin Nitrous Competitions rider had dominated the weekend in the lead up to Monday - setting a new lap record in practice, topping qualifying and then taking a clear race one win, with that result seeing him back on pole for the sprint with the fastest lap.

Warm-up also went to the Ducati rider earlier in the day, but again his only weak spot - the launch from the line  -saw him drop back to fourth at the first corner.

The number one plate did not take long to feature back at the front of the race, with Ryde back in the lead by lap three, taking over from Max Cook.

Once ahead, Ryde received more of a challenge with Leon Haslam and Bradley Ray going with him to form a breakaway trio.

Ryde rode defensively then pushed over the closing laps for a second win, this time by 2.052s.

After some changes of position Haslam settled in behind, but could not hold on. Initially recovering from any errors or cornering issues, that became harder as the race went on while battling to also stay ahead of the Yamaha, leaving the Moto Rapido rider to pick up another second place.

Bradley Ray completed the podium, also able to match Ryde when behind him, the McAMS rider was struggling for overtaking opportunities, leaving him third.

As the race splintered, Ducati riders Scott Redding and Storm Stacey fought behind to be best of the rest, with early contact on lap one setting the scene for their sprint. Redding pulled ahead for fourth for PBM.

That position was cemented when late in the race Stacey had an issue on the Bathams AJN bike, appearing to either miss a gear or hit neutral, causing the bike to slow on track. Stacey got running again before the next group neared for a secure fifth.

Next to the chequered flag was the four way battle for sixth. Early race leader Cook fought back to the front of that group for sixth for his new bimota team, holding off a hard challenge from Ryan Vickers - the best Honda rider for Honda Racing UK - the highest placed in the race for the manufacturer as a late push saw him set not only a personal best, but the fastest lap ever my the factory at Oulton Park.

Rory Skinner was a close eighth for Cheshire Mouldings Yamaha, with impressive rookie Joe Talbot all over the back of the Scottish rider on the final lap, but forced to settle for ninth on the second bimota bike.

Lee Jackson was next to finish, completing the top ten, but almost six seconds further down the road for DAO Racing.

The three way battle for 11th was lead over the line by Sencat Racing rider Christian Iddon, just ahead of Jason O’Halloran who climbed into the points for 12th for Honda Racing UK and Josh Brookes in 13th for DAO Racing.

The final points on offer went to Danny Kent for the Cheshire Mouldings team in 14th, under pressure from Fraser Rogers, who finished 15th.

It was again a race to forget for Glenn Irwin, starting 10th the Nitrous Competitions rider had hoped all of his clutch, brakes and other issues had been helped overnight, but soon slipped outside the top 20, waving his hands in frustration as he retired just before the end of the race.

Eugene McManus pulled in on the same lap. Rhys Irwin also entered the pits earlier in the race.

There was only one faller - with Charlie Nesbitt registering a double DNF so far for his opening weekend. The TAG Racing rider went running wide through Hizzy’s over the grass with Ilya Mikhalchik - the return to track was awkward for Nesbitt sending him from his bike, while the Ukrainian rider dropped to 21st, recovering to a finish of 17th.

Connor Thomson was withdrawn after his crash earlier in the weekend.

Championship Standings

Two wins from two means is now Ryde leading overall with 36 points, four clear of Haslam who has 32 after two second places. Doubling up on third place spots moved Ray onto 28 points.

Stacey and Redding complete the top five, both on 23 points.

Top rookie Joe Talbot moves up a spot overall, now ninth with a total of 13 points after two races.
