X-wings Look Set To Take On Mclaren Empire

The X-Wing set up, ridiculed last year when it appeared on the Tyrrells,
featured on an increasing number of cars in Argentina, as teams sought
extra downforce in their pursuit of McLaren.


Jordan and Sauber are the latest converts to the system, which sees
aerodynamic turrets placed on top of the sidepods, following the lead of
Tyrrell and Prost which used the wings in Melbourne. Ferrari, too, are
rumoured to be considering adding similar devices to the F300, despite Ross

Brawn's regret that they would spoil what is considered to be a beautiful
car.


The Italian team apparently borrowed a set of wings from Sauber in the
run-up to Argentina, but did not use them when they failed to fit the
car.
