Zakspeed Closes On Arrows Deal

Zakspeed are moving closer to a partnership with the beleaguered Arrows team, if rumours are to be believed.

The former F1 team is thought to be offering in the region of $60 million of benefits to Arrows if the two link up, including providing the TWR-run team the chance to re-locate to premises at the Nurburgring in Germany. An Arrows spokesperson was unable to confirm the offer when questioned, however.

An Arrows spokesperson was unable to confirm the offer when questioned, however.

(We are unable to comment on speculation,) she said, (but we hope to be able to make an announcement in due course, which will put the rumours to rest.)

The spokesperson also refused to comment on stories suggesting that the Zakspeed deal would take precedence over a similar offer from TWR boss Tom Walkinshaw's friend, Prince Malik Ado Ibrahim of Nigeria.

Confirmation of the team's plans for the 1999 season will be announced in due course.
