Minardi have dismissed talk of Nigel Mansell racing for the team in 2001.
Rumours the former 1992 F1 World Champion was going to return to Grand Prix racing emerged when it was reported by the news agency AFP.
Mansell last raced in Formula One in 1995 when he had a brief and unsuccessful period with McLaren.
A spokesperson for Minardi told the BBC: "Paul Stoddart (Minardi boss) knows Nigel reasonably well and has invited him to drive the F1x2 (two-seater) car at selected events this year."
