Red Bull Racing has finally confirmed what most of the Formula One world expected by naming Christian Klien as team-mate to David Coulthard in the senior of Red Bull's two grand prix teams for 2006.

The 22-year old Austrian will pilot the second Ferrari-powered RB2 alongside Coulthard, with recently revealed reserve Robert Doornbos completing the line-up as test driver. The announcement also confirms that the 'junior' Scuderia Toro Rosso squad will feature Vitantonio Liuzzi, Scott Speed and Neel Jani, although it has yet to be revealed which of the three will race, with some doubt still surrounding Speed's position after an ambiguous statement contained in the announcement of Doornbos' signing suggested that his role had not been decided.

"It?EUR(TM)s great that I?EUR(TM)m going to be driving for Red Bull Racing again in 2006," Klien admitted, "Next year is really only the start for this team, I think it?EUR(TM)s got a great future ahead of it and to be able to be part of that is really exciting."

Klien's performances in 2005 undoubtedly led to his inclusion in the RBR line-up - having seen off the challenge of F3000 champion Liuzzi during what was supposed to be a seat sharing season - but the Austrian is keen to do better still next year.

"I?EUR(TM)m definitely looking to improve next year and get more points," he stressed, "It will be good to continue working with David as well, as I?EUR(TM)m still a young driver and can learn a lot from him. However, like every racing driver, I?EUR(TM)m keen to beat my team-mate on the track."
