Williams has unveiled its new Formula 1 car for 2018, the FW41, following its season launch event in London on Thursday evening.

After confirming that Sergey Sirotkin would join Lance Stroll to form its line-up for the 2018 season in January, Williams has now released the first images of the car the drivers will get a first taste of later this month at the start of winter testing.

The Mercedes-powered Williams FW41 features the mandatory Halo cockpit protection device, painted white so it is incorporated into the team’s livery design, which sports more black on the front wing, bargeboards and around the sidepods for 2018.

Stroll, 19, will lead Williams during his second F1 season as the incoming Sirotkin gets his first taste of grand prix racing when he makes his debut in Australia on March 25, replacing the retired Felipe Massa.

Sirotkin joins Williams after enjoying junior roles at both Sauber and Renault in recent years, as well as finishing third in the GP2 standings in both 2015 and 2016. The team is also joined by one-time grand prix winner Robert Kubica, who was named as its reserve and development driver last month.

“I am thrilled to be back and launching our new car, for a new season, with a new, exciting driver line-up,” deputy team principal Claire Williams said.

“For many months, the team have put a tremendous amount of effort into the FW41 and I’m eager to see both Lance and Sergey take to the track later this month.

“Lance produced some impressive performances last year in what was a remarkably strong debut season, where he only just lost out to Felipe in the standings. His podium finish was the only one outside of the top three teams, and we aim to build on that this season.

“It’s also my pleasure to welcome Sergey and Robert to Williams, who have both displayed exceptional speed and qualities that I know will only strengthen the team.

“Sergey has impressed the technical team and it is great for us to be able to give him the opportunity to step up into a race seat. Robert, will also be working closely with the team, utilising his experience to help develop the car throughout the season.

“Our entire team have put a huge amount of effort into the development and production of this year’s car, and we’re all looking forward to seeing it on the track.”
