The Frenchman stalled his ART Grand Prix car at the start of the race and then was collected by Charouz Racing System’s Enzo Fittipaldi.

The race was immediately red-flagged as medical staff assisted Pourchaire and Fittipaldi out of their cars.

Both drivers were transported to King Fahad Armed Forces Hospital by ambulance and helicopter.

"Hey everyone, Just wanted to tell you that I'm globally fine!," he wrote on social media.

"For the moment I don't know if it's already the end of the season for me. But the most important is not that, that was a really big one and Enzo is injured.

"I wish him the best recovery possible!"

An official update has yet to be given about Fittipaldi’s condition.

The F2 season concludes this weekend at the Yas Marina Circuit in Abu Dhabi with Oscar Piastri on the brink of the title.

Pourchaire sits fifth in the drivers’ championship after a strong rookie season and he’s expected to remain in the series after missing out on the second Alfa Romeo F1 drive.
