Majestic treble for Crockard at Hawkstone.

CAS Honda riders Gordon Crockard and Yoshitaka Atsuta were in scintillating form at Hawkstone Park on Sunday, round four of the 2003 British Motocross Championship.

Crockard and Atsuta had to brave the elements - torrential downpours and deep sand - at the famous Shropshire circuit but the Bridgestone-shod pairing battled hard and came away with the spoils.

Ulsterman Crockard crowned a glorious day with a perfect three wins from three races while Japanese rider Atsuta achieved two podium finishes.

"I'm happy enough but the racing was really tough today and I'm exhausted," said a battle-scarred 'Crockstar' after a clean sweep on his Honda CRF450 machine.

Atsuta, returning from injury, battled bravely and after finishing fifth in the first race, improved to record two third-place podium places in the subsequent two races - giving him a much-deserved third place overall, six points behind overall runner-up Stuart Flockhart.

A delighted Atsuta said: "I suffered with bad starts in the first two races today but pushed as hard as I could towards the front. Other riders also crashed in front of me which also helped my position."

Atsuta has moved up to sixth place in the Championship, while Crockard sits in second place, trailing 2002 Champion and series leader Paul Cooper by 32 points.
