Team Makita Suzuki's Ricky Carmichael has increased his AMA Motocross lead with two walk-away wins in Sunday's eighth-round at Washougal, Washington.

Reigning champion Carmichael has now won 14 of the 16 races so far and leads the 12-round, 24-race series by 83 points from Honda's Kevin Windham.

THQ World and AMA Supercross champion Carmichael won both races convincingly; the first 30 minute leg by 28 seconds and the second by 21 seconds, with Windham second on both occasions. Fellow Honda rider Ernesto Fonseca took third overall.

In the 125cc class, Kawasaki's Ivan Tedesco confirmed his recent championship lead by taking the overall victory courtesy of his 1-3 finishes, while Honda's Andrew Short took second with 2-2 finishes, putting him ahead of Suzuki's Broc Helper who came back from a fifth in race one to win race two.
