AMA Pro Racing is investigating the incident that occurred during Sunday's decisive second 125cc moto at Glen Helen Raceway, in the final round of the AMA Motocross Championship presented by FMF.
Early in the race, Mike Alessi and Ivan Tedesco - who were battling for the championship - collided, resulting in both riders falling.
Specifically, AMA Pro Racing is investigating the actions of the riders immediately following the crash - when some onlookers report that Alessi, whose KTM had stalled, deliberately stood on Tedesco's Kawasaki (whose engine was still running) to prevent him from remounting first.
Additionally, the actions of Tedesco's team-mate Matt Walker are being examined. Walker is believed to have reacted to what he thought was Alessi 'obstructing' Tedesco by stopping and physically pushing Alessi out of the way.
Tedesco, who had continued to hold the clutch of his stricken machine and so keep his engine running, then went on to remount first and claim the 2005 title.
At the conclusion of the investigation, AMA Pro Racing will announce the results of its findings.
