Factory Connection, the official satellite AMA Supercross/Motocross racing team for American Honda, has announced its new rider and sponsor line-up for the 2006 seasons.

In terms of team name, long time title sponsor Amsoil will be stepping down to associate level to make way for new title backing from SoBe and Samsung Mobile. The team will thus become SoBe/Samsung Mobile/Honda.

"Amsoil has been part of the Factory Connection family for years, and we're happy to embrace strong, enthusiastic sponsors like SoBe and Samsung Mobile who step up to support our team," said Jeremy Meyer, Amsoil director of racing.

Beverage company SoBe and wireless technology leader Samsung Mobile will support both the 125cc and 250cc Factory Connection race teams for the 2006-2007 seasons, with company logos on all team uniforms, bikes and semis.

Meanwhile, the rider line-up will see 2005 250cc AMA Supercross and AMA Motocross runner-up Kevin Windham remain with the team, where he will again be joined by series veteran - and former champion - Mike LaRocco.

In the 125cc class, Josh Grant will be entering his second full season of professional racing where he will be joined by 2005 race winner Billy Laninovich, emerging star Tommy Hahn, Portuguese rider Joaquim Rodriguez and 17-year-old amateur sensation Jake Weimer.

"We are very excited to have this group of riders representing us next season. We feel this gives us an excellent chance to compete for multiple championships in both the 125cc and 250cc classes," said team manager, JC Waterhouse.

"We're proud to announce our new team for 2006," added team co-owner Rick Zeilfelder. "SoBe and Samsung Mobile have both demonstrated a commitment to the sport, they make great products, and they are committed to helping us build racing's fan-base. It's a win-win for everyone involved."

"With Kevin Windham and Mike LaRocco, plus a whole team of young lions eager to make their mark, this team continues to set the standard for performance and professionalism among satellite teams in AMA racing," declared Ray Blank, vice president of American Honda Motorcycle Division.

SoBe/Samsung Mobile/Honda will make its 2006 debut at the AMA Supercross Championship season-opener on January 7th at Anaheim, California.
