2008 AMA/World SX calendar announced.

The two main changes for next season are the loss of one of the Canadian rounds of the world championship - and a change of date for the other, from December to March.

The loss of Vancouver means that the 2008 'world' championship will contain just one round outside of the USA! That Toronto event has traditionally been the season opener, but will now be held during the second half of the AMA season.

The two main changes for next season are the loss of one of the Canadian rounds of the world championship - and a change of date for the other, from December to March.

"After having just one international round in 2008, we will re-instate two international rounds in 2008-2009, leaving enough time for all the motorcycle industry to prepare for the international growth," claimed Charlie Mancuso, president of Live Nation Motor Sports, Inc.

"Next year, there may be one round only outside the U.S. but we are confident that the combined efforts of Live Nation, the AMA and the FIM will see the World Supercross Championship go 'global' in the years to come," insisted FIM president Vito Ippolito. "This must be our goal. We owe it to the many supercross fans all over the world."

Meanwhile, the prestigious AMA series - onto which the world championship piggybacks - faces no such issues.

"The Amp'd Mobile AMA Supercross Series remains the premier supercross series in the world," stated AMA President/CEO Rob Dingman.
