2025 Valencia MotoGP reaction LIVE UPDATES

Live coverage of the 2025 Valencia MotoGP race, the final race of the 2025 season.

The final race of 2025, the 2025 Valencia MotoGP, is due to get underway this afternoon at 14:00 local time over 27 laps.

Marco Bezzecchi starts on pole position after a strong performance in Q2 yesterday. He wasn't able to make the most of that starting position yesterday because of a start device issue in the first corners.

Alex Marquez was the rider to best take advantage of Bezzecchi's early problems, taking a commanding victory in the Sprint. He'll race in a special silver livery today to mark his second-place finish in this year's riders' standings.

Pedro Acosta finished second yesterday but will need a good start again today from fifth on the grid in order to challenge for a maiden premier class win.

Fabio Di Giannantonio was another rider who started poorly yesterday from the front row, dropping to fifth from third early on, but he recovered those positions by the end to take a first Sprint podium since Misano. A podium today would be Di Giannantonio's first on a Sunday since Australia.

Jorge Martin will contest his first grand prix since Misano today after his Japan crash, for which he will serve a double long lap penalty today. The Spaniard suggested yesterday that he may end his race early in order to conserve energy for the test on Tuesday.

A first win for Acosta?

After Friday, Pedro Acosta was the clear favourite in Valencia, showing strong pace over one lap and longer runs. But yesterday he was clearly out-paced by Alex Marquez in the Sprint, and you feel that if Bezzecchi makes a strong start today, unlike yesterday, he will be strong as well.

A second or third place finish today would take Acosta's premier class podium count to 11, one shy of the record for MotoGP podiums without a win.

But if he can start well and gain track position, we know he will be difficult to pass, especially on a circuit such as Valencia where overtakes are so hard to execute.

Honda chases concession points

Alberto Puig made it clear on Friday that Honda is aiming to score the nine points it requires this weekend to move up once concession tier in 2026, from D to C.

However, its first attempt to eat into that nine-point margin yesterday went poorly, as Joan Mir took out Luca Marini at the second corner and Johann Zarco finished outside the points in 10th.

Honda's best-placed rider today must therefore finish at least seventh in order for Honda to gain that concession tier for next year.

Bezzecchi on pole, hoping to avoid Sprint issues

Marco Bezzecchi's start from pole position yesterday was notably poor, as he was back to P6 by turn five.

Afterwards, he explained that he had an issue with his start device that cost him time in the opening corners - something he clearly could do without today.

Martin penalty

Jorge Martin starts 17th today for his first grand prix start since Misano. But he will serve two long lap penalties after his crash in Motegi that involved Marco Bezzecchi.

Martin explained yesterday that this could actually make his race "easier".

Yamaha confirms V4 switch for 2026

Ahead of today's Valencia race, Yamaha has publicly confirmed its switch to a V4 engine for the 2026 MotoGP season.

It's a "strategic" change, says Technical Director Max Bartolini, "as it allows us to position ourselves for the 2027 technical regulations, when this engine layout will offer an advantage in terms of bike layout and aerodynamic development."
