Brno MotoGP LIVE: Sprint reaction after Bagnaia takes first win of 2026

Live coverage of the Sprint at the 2026 Brno MotoGP from the Automotodrom Brno.

Live updates from the Sprint at the 2026 MotoGP Czech Grand Prix at Brno. The Sprint is due to start at 15:00.

Key Moments

  • Bagnaia leads lights to flag for first win of 2026 from Ogura, Marquez
  • Bezzecchi, Acosta crash out
  • Moreira out of third on lap one

Ai Ogura came into Saturday having been fastest on Friday. The Japanese rider was one of five riders to go under the 1m52s barrier yesterday after Marc Marquez became the first. Ogura's best qualifying of fifth place came in his first ever MotoGP race at Buriram last year, and his best of 2026 was sixth before he scored his maiden premier class pole this morning.

Marco Bezzecchi was second-fastest yesterday behind Ogura. It was something of a turnaround in the afternoon for Bezzecchi, who had been 16th in FP1, and he complained of a worse-than-expected physical condition after Practice due to the impact his right leg took in the crash at Balaton two weeks ago. Qualifying went reasonably well for the championship leader, who will start fourth this afternoon.

Bezzecchi's team-mate, Jorge Martin, was also out of the top-10 in FP1, but unlike Bezzecchi he was unable to recover in Practice, saying afterwards he missed a "spark" to go faster. Martin, second in the championship, came through Q1 this morning but could do no better than 10th in Q2.

Fabio Di Giannantonio and Francesco Bagnaia also featured in the top-five yesterday, the latter feeling that he was able to benefit from the high-grip track surface at Brno. The two complete the front row behind Ogura, too, after solid qualifyings for the pair of them.

Marc Marquez had an underwhelming qualifying and will start fifth, but he seemed to have the strongest pace in FP2 this morning on a used soft tyre.

Pedro Acosta was on the podium for the first time in 2025 at Brno. In 2026 he arrives in Czechia having had a much more successful season so far, but the Spaniard was only sixth-fastest yesterday and did not lap in the 1m51s. In qualifying, he managed only eighth, the KTM missing turning performance compared to the Ducatis and Aprilias.

Alex Marquez made his return to MotoGP yesterday after a month out through the injuries he sustained in Catalunya. Marquez finished 15th in Practice, and qualified 15th this morning, but has since withdrawn from the event.
