Aleix Espargaro - career to date.

At just 20 years of age, and without a single podium to show for his 67 grand prix starts in the 125 and 250cc classes, Aleix Espargaro will make his MotoGP debut for Pramac Ducati at next weekend's Indianapolis round (see previous story).

Espargaro has been signed to replace Mika Kallio for the new two events, while the young Finn himself substitutes for Casey Stoner at the factory Ducati team.

Here are Espargaro's grand prix career highlights to date:

2009: Race develops the Promo Racing Moto2 bike (pictured) in the Spanish Formula Extreme championship and turns heads with a career-best fourth after being called up to replace Gabor Talmacsi for the Aspar-run Balatonring 250GP team at Assen. Stays with the team for the German GP, where he finishes seventh, before Hungarian Balazs Nemeth returns.

2008: Twelfth in the 250cc World Championship with Lotus Aprilia, best finish of fifth.

2007: First full season of 250cc racing, with Blusens Aprilia. Finishes 15th in the championship with a best finish of eleventh.

2006: Makes six starts for the BQR Honda team in the 125cc class, before moving with the team to the 250cc class. Best finish of ninth.

2005: First full season in 125cc grand prix racing, riding for Seedorf Honda. Finished 16th in the championship with a best finish of seventh (China).

2004: Youngest ever winner of the Spanish 125cc championship. Made grand prix debut at final round in Valencia, where he qualified 29th and finished 24th with an Racc Caja Madrid Honda.

Aleix is the older brother of five-time 125GP podium finisher Pol Espargaro
