Toprak Razgatlioglu crashes out of bizarre Red Bull stunt in Turkey

Pramac MotoGP rider Toprak Razgatlioglu had a spectacular crash while taking part in the Turkish version of Red Bull’s Flugtag event.

The three-time World Superbike champion is famed for his stunt riding off-track as much as he is for his racing prowess.

Last weekend, Toprak Razgatlioglu took part in the Turkish version of Red Bull’s Flugtag event, which sees pilots try to fly their homemade contraptions as far as they can over water.

Razgatlioglu competed in the event on a Yamaha R6 mock-up attached to a glider wing, with the hope of at least getting it off the ground.

But the Turkish superstar didn’t even make it that far, losing control as he was pushed to the end of the runway and falling straight into the water.

Decked out in his Pramac Yamaha leathers, Razgatlioglu was unharmed after the spill, though wasn’t best pleased with the crew pushing him along.

Earlier this summer, Razgatlioglu took part in a Porsche track day at Istanbul Park.

He told Crash at the British Grand Prix that he had been in talks with MotoGP about returning the series to the Turkish venue in the future.

“We have this plan [for a race at Istanbul Park], maybe the future,” he said. “We are working about this.

“It’s possible, because now Formula 1 has signed already, I think five years contract – next year Formula 1 comes back again to Istanbul Park for the race.

“MotoGP, why not?

“We are talking about this with Dorna, and the federation, and also the government. We will see.”

Razgatlioglu heads to this weekend’s Aragon Grand Prix 21st in the standings, following a tough British Grand Prix.

The Pramac rider was 14th in the Silverstone race, as he continues his adaptation to the championship.

His best result of the season remains an 11th-place finish at the Hungarian Grand Prix.

Razgatlioglu will remain with Pramac Yamaha next season, when he is expected to make a significant step forward as MotoGP switches to more familiar Pirelli rubber.

His team-mate is yet to be announced, though Pramac’s Moto2 frontrunner Izan Guevara is due to get the nod.

Razgatlioglu’s current team-mate Jack Miller is due to join Yamaha’s factory effort in World Superbikes.
