"British Eurosport will broadcast the 2010 MotoGP Championship under the same terms as this year"

The MotoGP World Championship will continue to be broadcast on British Eurosport in 2010 - but, once again, there will be no live coverage of MotoGP races.

MotoGP commercial rights-holder Dorna Sports had announced that grand prix motorcycle racing would no longer be available on Eurosport for 2009, due to a change in strategy aimed at focussing on free-to-air coverage.

For the UK, this meant that the BBC would have exclusive coverage of MotoGP - a move that infuriated many fans, angry at the loss of extensive live coverage and the absence of the popular British Eurosport commentary team of Toby Moody, Julian Ryder and Randy Mamola.

In the end a compromise was reached for 2009, with the BBC and Eurosport once again both broadcasting MotoGP - but with the MotoGP race only shown live on the BBC. That format will now continue in 2010.

"British Eurosport will broadcast the 2010 MotoGP Championship under the same terms as this year i.e. live practice and qualifying sessions, live 125cc and Moto2 races and delayed coverage of the MotoGP race, 1hr after the start," British Eurosport EPG & Listings Co-ordinator Rachael Finn told Crash.net.

With Eurosport broadcasting from trackside less often in 2009, there was no pitlane role available for Mamola, while Moody and Ryder only covered a partial season due to prior commitments.
