The on track debut of the latest spec Proton KR V5, during a two day test at Valencia, has ended with one machine being set alight and rider Kurtis Roberts injured.
The fiery episode (pictured) occurred after new rider Roberts suffered a heavy fall during the final day of testing at the Spanish circuit, at which Repsol Honda, Ducati Marlboro, Suzuki and Aprilia were also present.

The American MotoGP rookie was left with shoulder damage, but fortunately came to rest away from his burning machine.
It is not yet known when Roberts will be fit to ride again, but he will hope to make the first IRTA test, to be held at Barcelona from March 26-28.
Meanwhile, team-mate Nobuatsu Aoki was able to continue testing with his new machine today, and although he 'only' lapped at the same pace as Jeremy McWilliams' best from last November's GP on the 2003 spec racer, the Japanese believes there's plenty of room for development before the season begins in six weeks time.
