Chambon, Fujiwara 1-2 in WSS for Alstare Suzuki.

Team Alstare Suzuki Corona Extra riders Stephane Chambon and Katsuaki Fujiwara finished today's 28-lap race at Oschersleben in fourth and sixth positions when the chequered flag dropped, but were then sensationally moved up to first and second when six Hondas were disqualified.

Karl Muggeridge, Broc Parkes and Sebastien Charpentier had crossed the line 1-2-3, but were excluded from the results after the post-race inspection deemed their bikes to have rear axles that did not match the homologation papers for those parts.

Honda immediately lodged an appeal, and it is possible that today's decision will be reversed (and the original results stand), but for the moment Alstare Suzuki Corona have their first win and runner-up spot of the season.

"I don't like to take first in this manner, because I'd rather do it on the track," said Chambon. "It was hard work finishing fourth today and I was quite happy with that after the weekend we've had.

"At the moment, it's hard to believe that I won today because I wasn't on the podium, but the rules are the rules and if there was something incorrect with the Hondas they deserve to be disqualified.

"I don't think I'll be celebrating the win tonight not because it may disappear but because of the way this has happened. We will have to wait and see. In the meantime there's a lot of work to do before the next round at Silverstone."

"It is a strange way to get second place," added team-mate, Fujiwara, "but if the Hondas broke the rules, I am happy to take second. When the race ended today, I was happy enough with my seventh place because it had been a hard weekend for us. I was unlucky at Monza when my bike broke down when I was in third place and sure of a podium, so today maybe I got lucky - very lucky."
