2008 Returns to the AMA Superbike championship with Honda.

2007 Forced to sit out the entire season after failing to find a WSBK seat. Openly unhappy at not being placed back in Ducati's factory WSBK team alongside Troy Bayliss.

2006 Remains in AMA Superbike with Ducati Austin but is unable to trouble the all conquering Suzukis. Finishes fifth in the championship, but without a race win. Ducati withdraws from the series at the end of the season, citing a lack of equality with the four-cylinders due to the technical rules.

2005 Signs to ride for the factory Ducati Austin team in the AMA Superbike championship, to try and become the first person to win BSB, WSBK and AMA titles. However, never able to regularly threaten Suzuki's reigning champion Mat Mladin. Ends season 6th in points, with one win in wet at Road America.

2004 Moves to MotoGP with the new D'Antin Ducati team, but suffers a disappointing season with the underfunded team on uncompetitive year-old machinery. Best finish of 8th, 17th in championship.

2003 World Superbike Champion with the factory Ducati Fila team. 13 wins.

2002 WSBK Championship, 3rd (HM Plant Ducati).

2001 WSBK Championship, 5th (GSE Racing Ducati), 1 win.
