Experienced racer Gary Mason is to make a full-time return to the MCE British Superbike Championship after being signed by Tsingtao WK Kawasaki for the remainder of the 2014 season.

The 35-year-old has competed in 227 races since making his BSB debut back in 2002, but has not raced a full campaign since 2011.

However, after a recent one-off outing at Brands Hatch to replace the injured Mitchell Carr on the Anvil Hire TAG Kawasaki, Mason will embark on a proper comeback having been drafted in to replace the injured Harry Hartley on the Tsingtao WK Kawasaki to the end of the year.

Starting with this weekend's coming round at Oulton Park, Mason is looking forward to getting reacquainted with his former rivals.

"I am looking forward to getting back on track at Oulton Park this weekend. This deal has come together for the remainder of the season and it gives me a chance to chip away at each round and build on my future for next year.

"I worked with members of this team when I was with MSS in 2011, which was a fairly good season, so I am looking forward to getting back into it again this weekend.

"I missed racing in the Championship too much and coming back recently made me realise that. I race because I love it and I want get that grin back on my face this weekend. I am just going to jump in there, have a good go and just keep trying to move forward."

Having stepped up to BSB racing in 2014, Tsingtao WK Kawasaki began the season with Jon Kirkham before splitting three rounds into the season and replacing him with Harry Hartley, who then injured himself in a crash at Knockhill.

Shaun Winfield rode the bike during the Thruxton event.
