Michael Rutter won the second, greatly shortened, sprint race at Mallory Park for the third round of the Bennetts British Superbike championship.

Hawk Kawasaki's Glen Richards briefly challenged the HM Plant Honda rider for the lead in the early laps of the 12 lap flyer but Rutter was able to retake the position on the sixth lap to take his second win of the day.

Gregorio Lavilla on the Airwaves Ducati made his way up to third, from a bad start on the side of the track covered in oil and cement dust, to take the final place of the podium. He came across the line side-by-side with second placed man Richards but didn't quite pip him to the line.

Dean Thomas brought the second Hawk Kawasaki home in fourth ahead of Ducati's Leon Haslam.

Jeremy McWilliams again retired after only five laps - he recorded two non-finishes today, which will not please his Stobart team boss.
