Entire field on slicks!

The whole field have opted for slick tyres.

Mediums are the most popular choice, but interestingly, Max Verstappen has gone for softs as he looks to challenge for the lead immediately!

The formation lap is about to get underway.

10 minutes until lights out!

Just 10 minutes to go until we get underway for the 2025 Singapore Grand Prix.

What tyres will the drivers opt for in these mixed conditions?

"It feels a bit drier here in sector 1 than it does in sector 2 and 3, but I'm hoping it creates a bit of carnage," Alex Albon said.

"It's just about how much you want to risk. It is actually really wet in sector 3."

There's a 30 percent chance of rain for the race itself.

Albon under investigation for practice start

Alex Albon is not having a great weekend for Williams, having been disqualified from qualifying for a technical infringement and starting the Singapore Grand Prix from the pit lane.

Now, he's under investigation for an alleged practice start out of the pits. The stewards have confirmed they will look at the incident after tonight's race.

Inters for the start?

Haas driver Oliver Bearman, who goes from ninth, has just suggested to Martin Brundle on the grid that intermediate tyres may be the way to go for the start, with standing water around at parts of the track.

“It’s strange," Bearman said. "Sector 1 was fully dry, and then you get to the low-speed sector 2, and there’s still a bit of water standing on there. It depends if you’ve got what it takes.

"I think the inter will be faster for [only] one lap at this point, and then there’s still another half an hour until the race starts.”

Still a good 20 minutes for things to dry out before the start though. This could pose quite the dilemma for teams...

Russell says weather could mix things up

Here was George Russell speaking to Sky Sports F1 a little earlier when the rain was still falling.

“It’s pretty unpredictable around here, so just keeping an open mind. It’s been raining pretty hard, but it’s also going to dry up reasonably quick in this heat. So, who knows what’s going to happen?

“It will be challenging to overtake dry or wet, but when the weather is unpredictable, it does bring in a lot of unknowns and makes the strategy very difficult.”

Verstappen and Norris in qualifying spat

There was a bit of a spat between Max Verstappen and Lando Norris in qualifying last night.

Verstappen was left angry at Norris for slowing in front of him in Q3 and accused the McLaren driver  of ruining his final lap and potentially costing him pole.

The Dutchman said afterwards: "That's what happens when there's a car in front of you just cruising two seconds in front. That's noted, it will be remembered as well."

Asked about Verstappen's comments, Norris was quick to shrug off his rival's complaints.

"They always complain. They complain about everything. That's Red Bull," Norris quipped. "I don't even know. I was like three seconds ahead. I can't work it out."

McLaren can seal constructors' title

The other big story of the Singapore Grand Prix is that McLaren can wrap up the 2025 constructors' championship at the second time of asking.

After a nightmare weekend in Azerbaijan, the champagne remained on ice, but McLaren should seal the deal in Singapore - barring some kind of unforeseen disaster.

McLaren need just 13 points - or one of their drivers to finish on the podium - to secure their second consecutive constructors' crown and a 10th teams' title for the British squad.

Clinching the title tonight would also tie Red Bull's record from 2023 of winning the championship with six races still remaining.

Russell vs Verstappen

George Russell beat Max Verstappen to claim a stunning pole position under the lights as the Mercedes driver came out on top in a thrilling qualifying on Saturday night.

As a result, we have an exciting front-row for today's race. Just behind, championship leader Oscar Piastri starts from third, ahead of Mercedes' Kimi Antonelli and the other McLaren of Lando Norris.

Title rivals Piastri and Norris go into this one separated by 25 points with 199 still up for grabs. Verstappen is 44 points behind Piastri but the Red Bull driver could further reduce his deficit tonight after taking back-to-back wins in Italy and Azerbaijan.

Neither Russell or Verstappen have won on the streets of Singapore - will one of them be celebrating on the top step for the first time later tonight?

Rain has been falling

Light rain has been falling on and off in recent hours. Remember that start in 2017 when it was wet?

It has currently stopped and if no more rain falls, it should dry up nicely before the start. But damp conditions could make things even more interesting.

Even if it does dry out, the rain will have washed away some of the rubber laid down over the weekend, leaving the track 'green', which will have an impact on grip levels.
