Both the Williams and Jordan teams will test revised sidepod designs at the Silverstone test this week, in a bid to revive their flagging seasons.

Williams will try different length pods in conjunction with revised barge-boards after introducing their longer wheelbase chassis in recent races. The changes should reduce laps times by almost half a second, according to regular pilot Heinz-Harald Frentzen.

Jordan, meanwhile will introduce shorter sidepods to its recalcitrant 198 chassis in the hope that they will help to overcome the lack of downforce which has plagued the team all year. The car featured longer sidepods than its rivals when it was launched.
