Derek Daly back in Formula One car.

Former Formula One driver Derek Daly returned to his roots on Monday, when he drove a Jordan-Ford EJ13 at Silverstone.

Daly, who drove for Tyrrell and Williams amongst others in his F1 career, was testing the car as part of a television show he is producing for Speed Channel in America. The test, which took place during the team's shakedown of its new F1 car, will also be featured in an upcoming issue of Road & Track magazine.

"Eddie Jordan still owes me money from the first racing car I bought from him in 1973 and this is part of his pay back," Daly smiled, "I use these tests to keep me current with contemporary racing cars because I believe it helps with my television broadcasts."

Although retired from competition since 1992, Daly's track tests have been taking place since 1994, when he drove the Williams FW15B at Paul Ricard. Since then, he has tested a variety of machinery, including Champ Cars, Formula One, World Sportscars, Indy Racing League and NASCAR cars.

"My biggest problem was trying to keep my head upright during acceleration, such were the forces leaving low speed corners," he reported on his Jordan outing, "This is
probably the last time I will drive a Formula One car - I am no longer physically or mentally able to drive them."

Daly now owns and operates Derek Daly Performance Driving Academy in Las Vegas, and has been involved in television with ESPN, Speed Channel,
and CBS Sports since 1985.
