Davidson to stick with Honda?

Anthony Davidson looks set to stay on with Honda in 2006, despite the fact he has apparently been offered a race seat with the new Super Aguri F1 team.

According to F1 insiders, the Brit has been 'advised' that he would be better off remaining with the Brackley based squad this year as their third driver, rather than gambling on a move to F1's newest team - which looks set to run with an updated version of the former Arrows A23 chassis.

A report in British newspaper The Sunday Mirror earlier this week, added that while Davidson will pass on a move to the Aguri Suzuki squad this year, he will accept a position their in 2007.

"Anthony is highly-rated by Honda," a source close to the team told the tabloid 'paper, "and the thinking is that it would make more sense to drive for the team in 2007 when their B-team - Super Suzuki - is up and running properly."

How much of this is just conjecture remains to be seen, however it is thought that former BAR driver, Takuma Sato will definitely race for Aguri this year, possibly forming part of an all-Japanese line-up, with Sakon Yamamoto, Kosuke Matsuura and Yuji Ide all said to be possibilities for the second seat.

Should Davidson stay on at Honda, it will be his sixth season with the team and his fifth year devoted pretty much exclusively to testing.

To date he has contested three F1 grand's prix, two with Minardi in 2002 and one last year, when he stood in for Takuma Sato at the Malaysian GP.
