Montagny secures third Super Aguri seat.

The Super Aguri team has confirmed that Frank Montagny is to drive its third car at the European Grand Prix at the Nurburgring.

The French driver, who traveled with the team to the Bahrain and Malaysian races as a reserve driver, will join race drivers Takuma Sato and Yuji Ide on track for the Friday practice sessions and will also be on stand-by as reserve driver should he be needed by the team over the course of the weekend in Germany.

"It is good to have Franck with us again at the European Grand Prix," team principal Aguri Suzuki said. "His feedback on the SA05's performance will be extremely useful to our engineers as he has a high level of F1 technical knowledge."

According to the press release issued by Super Aguri, 'discussions continue regarding further opportunities within the team' - although no mention is made of what those further opportunities may be for the former Renault test driver.

While the addition of Montagny to the line-up will enable the team to try and make the SA05 more competitive ahead of the introduction of the new Super Aguri car later in the season, speculation will no doubt soon begin that the Frenchman could earn a race seat with the team should Ide continue to struggle with F1, team manager Daniele Audetto having already said that the Japanese driver could be replaced if he fails to perform in next weekends race.
