Allianz expands involvement.

Having been a staunch supporter of the Williams team in recent years, Allianz has expanded its Formula One involvement to become a 'global partner' to the top flight category.

The deal provides Allianz with the right to call itself the sport's exclusive partner in the sector of financial service providers in insurance, asset management and banking, although the involvement brings little more than written recognition. The German company will continue its long-term commitment to Williams team, and maintain its prominent on-track and pit-lane branding.

"We welcome Allianz as a new global partner of Formula One," Bernie Ecclestone said, "With their continued sponsorship of the Williams team and multiple trackside presence, Allianz is another prime example of a global company using F1 to build its brand throughout the world."

"This three-tiered approach to the sponsorship considers all Allianz objectives," explained brand communications manager Bjoern Widemann, "The ongoing team partnership with Williams brings our involvement in F1 to life and makes it an emotional and tangible experience. On track branding builds awareness worldwide for Allianz as a global leader in financial services and the new global partnership with FOM gives us the opportunity to demonstrate our core competencies on a superior level."
