After impressing during his several stand-in appearances for Ferrari and Haas, Oliver Bearman is a full-time F1 driver in 2025.

Bearman making it into F1 looked inevitable following his one-off drive for Ferrari at the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix, stepping in for Carlos Sainz. The young British driver adapted well to a high-pressure weekend, finishing ahead of Lando Norris and Lewis Hamilton to secure a top-seven finish at Jeddah.

Despite a poor Formula 2 campaign, curtailed by Prema’s struggles with the new generation of car, Haas were impressed with Bearman’s numerous practice session appearances. Bearman also starred in his two other stand-in races, out-qualifying veteran Nico Hulkenberg on both occasions.

In 2025, Bearman is racing alongside Esteban Ocon, forming a new driver line-up for the American team under their impressive team principal, Ayao Komatsu. With Ferrari’s backing, out-performing Ocon will put him in the shop window for years to come if a seat opens at the Scuderia.

Bearman clinched his first title in 2021, winning the Italian Formula 4 Championship. His Formula 3 rookie season was impressive, finishing third as he narrowly missed out on the title.

Bearman continued to show his lightning speed in F2, taking four victories. His rookie season included back-to-back wins in Azerbaijan, where he claimed pole despite having a damaged steering column.

While his second F2 season didn’t go to plan, Haas’s belief didn’t waver, handing him a full-time drive for 2025.
