T-Sport brings curtain down with podium.

T-Sport enjoyed a solid end to the 2008 British F3 International Series season after Sergio Perez and Steven Guerrero completed their campaigns with a trip to the Donington Park podium.

It allowed Perez to secure his fourth place in the drivers standings, the highest placed non-Carlin driver, while Guerrero secured the runner-up slot in the National Class - meaning T-Sport has now finished inside the top ten for seven years.

Perez missed the pre-race testing on Thursday due to the GP2 Asia test in Shanghai, so he was left playing catch-up in the first of the two qualifying sessions on Saturday.

Tenth place on the grid for race one wasn't what the Mexican had hoped for, but he more than made up for it in the second session, taking third place for the start of race two.

In the first race, a fine start saw him move up to eighth place and was making a pass on Walter Grubmuller when the Austrian spun him around. Perez pitted in order to take on new tyres so they could be scrubbed in for race two, then opted to retire as there was no chance of scoring any points. With everything to play for in race two he got up to second at the start and held that position until Nick Tandy passed him on lap 13.

The youngster was beginning to struggle for straight line speed towards the end of the race, but he held onto third all the way to flag, ending his year with a podium finish.

Guerrero struggled in the first qualifying session and only managed fifth place on the National Class grid. He gathered it all together for session two though and qualified second in class and eighth overall, his best result yet. Fifth place in race one was followed by a great finish in race two which saw him take third spot and another podium finish for T-Sport.

"To win four races outright is a phenomenal achievement for T-Sport," team principal Russell Eacott said. "We are only second to Carlin in terms of wins and I think it shows how much we have grown to expect of ourselves when we are disappointed to be fourth in the overall championship standings.

"Finishing the last race on the podium shows we still have what it takes to be on top and we are proud to have taken a top result in the National Class for the seventh year running. 2009 starts now and our technical department will be working harder than ever to make sure T-Sport continues its upward momentum."
