Youthstream, the company which will take over the television, marketing and promotional rights for the Motocross World Championship from January 1 2004, has presented its proposed calendar for the premier MX1 class to the FIM.

The 16 round line-up contains new events in England, Ireland, Portugal and South Africa, with the season opening event to take place at Zolder on March 21. The Bulgarian GP, scene of Pit Beirer's career ending accident, has been removed from the calendar and replaced by an addition round in Belgium.

"I am very proud to be bringing MX1 back with 16 events and to take the Grand Prix to overseas countries like South Africa, and to bring Motocross back to the very traditional Motocross countries like England and Ireland," said Mr. Giuseppe Luongo, President of Youthstream, on announcing the calendar.

The calendar is subject to FIM approval at the biennial session in Annecy, on October 22-25. The 2004 Motocross des Nations is scheduled to take place at Lierop, The Netherlands, on October 3.
