MotoGP Race Direction has handed Romano Fenati a Penalty Point for the last lap incident in Argentina, but the Italian has kept his Moto3 race win.

VR46 rider Fenati barged from third to first at the penultimate turn, making contact with Alex Marquez and then leader Jack Miller (see below for further pictures).

"During the Moto3 Race of the Gran Premio Red Bull de la Rep?blica Argentina, the rider number 5, Romano Fenati collided with two other riders whilst passing them in the final turns of the race," said a statement from Race Direction.

"This is considered to be irresponsible riding causing danger to other competitors and is therefore an infringement of Article 1.21.2 of the FIM Road Racing World Championship Grand Prix Regulations.

"A Race Direction decision was held with all three riders present.

"The decision of Race Direction is to impose the addition of one Penalty Point to the record of rider number 5 Romano Fenati. No appeal has been lodged."

The victory was Fenati's first since his rookie 2012 season and the first ever for Valentino Rossi's new Moto3 team.

It is not known if the race organiser's received a Penalty Point for playing the French rather than Italian national anthem on the podium...
