Chris Burns will make his return to MotoGP with the Harris WCM team at Jerez this weekend, after a frustrating winter in which he feared he'd be left rideless after turning down other offers.

Burns rode for WCM during a troubled 2003, in which the team completed only a partial season of racing after its R1-based prototype was initially banned from competition.

The outfit was present on the grid at Welkom two weeks ago for the season-opening Africa's Grand Prix - but only Italian rider Michael Fabrizio was on hand. However Burns, who has not ridden a motorcycle for seven months, has now been told he will race for the remainder of the season.

"I'm just so relieved that at last the WCM ride has been confirmed," the Briton admitted, "I turned down a few rides in the winter and it was all getting very frustrating.

"My problem at Jerez will be that I've not ridden a motorcycle for seven months. I'll just have one hour of practice on Friday morning before the first qualifying session. It will not be an easy weekend, but I'm so looking forward to getting there and racing again."
