Edwards switches forks.

In a bid to close the gap to the front of the MotoGP field - and championship leading team-mate Sete Gibernau - Colin Edwards has switched away from his World Superbike winning front forks.

The Telefonica Honda rider has claimed two seventh placed finishes and a fifth so far this season - results which compare poorly to Gibernau's two wins and a third, despite the pair having been evenly matched during pre-season testing.

The Texan appears to have suffered greatest from the chatter problems associated with the latest RCV parts, and in a bid to end his handling misery has now moved away from his 'Superbike' fork configuration.

Edwards tried the 'normal' option at Michelin's Clermont Ferrand test track earlier this week, and declared it a step in the right direction.

"I'm really satisfied with the two days of testing. I went back to the normal fork - I've been using the SBK 2002 fork so far - and the feeling of the bike is now much better," he said. "We've done a great job with Michelin and got a good set-up."
