Yamaha: No plans for alternative livery.

The factory Yamaha team has told Crash.net that they have no plans to run any alternative livery on the race machines of Valentino Rossi and Colin Edwards during the 2005 MotoGP season.

This year marks Yamaha's 50th anniversary and, as such, some predicted that the factory team would run some form of special livery - which may even change throughout the season - to celebrate the landmark.

However, today's Tokyo unveiling of the 2005 Gauloises Yamaha YZR-M1 livery (top pic) saw only minor changes to the team's 2004 racing colours (lower pic) - and no mention of any intention to run any form of special 50th anniversary livery at a later date.

Following the unveiling, Crash.net asked the team if the design shown would be used for the full 2005 season or if any other liveries could also make an appearance.

"At the moment there are no plans to race the bike in any other liveries. This is the full final livery and the plan is that it will be used by Rossi and Edwards throughout the season," replied a Gauloises Yamaha spokeswoman.

Rossi and Edwards will next be on track during three days of testing at Phillip Island, Australia, from March 9 - 11.
