Danny Bird latest.

Reading skipper Danny Bird is reported to be in good spirits, despite the unfortunate broken leg he suffered in Sunday's home defeat against Isle of Wight.

Racers officials went in to visit him on Tuesday afternoon and reported that he was x-rayed again and the injured left leg (broken tibia and fibula) was going to be re-plastered in a full cast from toe to thigh. He is hoping that he will then be transferred to Guildford (closer to his home).

Bird is looking at a lengthy spell on the sidelines, though the breaks are fairly clean, so he hopes that may speed up his return.

He appreciates all the concerns and messages of support, and is keen to get back racing again as soon as possible, but in the meantime hopes to be at Smallmead very soon to thank the fans personally.
