Riders sponsor Hodgson.

Motorcycle supplier Riders of Bridgwater has announced that it will sponsor GSE Racing's Neil Hodgson for the remainder of this year's Superbike World Championship, following speculation that a lack of finance might force the British star out of the series.

The agreement opens up the possibility of a number of exciting, promotional ventures from one of the UK's leading, authorised Ducati dealers, featuring the 27-year-old British Superbike champion.

Hodgson will be making a number of personal appearances at Riders of Bridgwater's impressive superstore in Somerset. In addition, Riders of Bridgwater branding will adorn the Ducati rider's GSE Racing race leathers and contribute to reinforcing the associated promotional values.

The company's managing director, Phil Jessop, has been an enthusiastic follower of Hodgson's career, and is delighted with his sponsorship coup.

"There is no doubt that Neil is the number one rider in the UK," he said, "Riders of Bridgwater has been a long established benefactor of British road racing and we believe that Neil has the right image to further enhance our profile.

"However, this isn't just a case of 'good news' for our status as a Ducati dealer. There is no doubt that Neil's progress in World Superbike will provide a large amount of interest among our staff and customers alike. I don't think that there has been a better time to share the Riders of Bridgwater experience."

Hodgson has gradually been moving up the WSBK rankings this season, overcoming some early season misfortune to climb to fifth in the points standings. Two podium finishes at the daunting Laguna Seca circuit last weekend underlined the Lancastrian's potential, which would have been lost to the series had, as rumoured, his GSE team been forced out because of a sponsorship shortfall.
