Edwards confident for Lausitzring.

Honda SP-2 World Superbike star Colin Edwards is confident of victory in Sunday's seventh round of the World Superbike championship at the Lausitzring circuit in Germany.

Edwards won there last year when the series made its debut at the brand new circuit where the superbike riders race on part of a high-speed oval for the only time in the calendar.

After victory in the last round of the championship at Silverstone, GB, Edwards remains optimistic about the German round on Sunday and his championship chances.

"I'm pretty sure we've got one or two tricks up our sleeve for Lausitzring," believes Edwards. "Things went pretty well at Silverstone and I closed the gap to the championship lead, repeating that sort of points return will do me nicely in Germany."

Edwards reduced the deficit to championship leader Troy Bayliss from 38 points to 29 after the American took a win and a second place at Silverstone.

He continues: "I know Bayliss is tough at every track we go to but we had a good run at Lausitzring last year and now we've got the new SP-2 I have to be confident about winning on Sunday."

After taking sixth place in the opening race at Silverstone two weeks ago Castrol Honda Rumi rider Mark Heckles will be hoping to repeat that on his Lausitzring debut aboard his HRC kit SP-2 machine.

"Silverstone was great," recalls Heckles. "The result came at just the right time after a disappointing start to the season for me. Lausitzring is another new track for me but I'm looking forward to the challenge."
