Last weekend at Phillip Island, it was announced that Peter Ingley had lost his position as riders representative for the World Superbike and Supersport championships.

Ingley's departure follows some outspoken comments made by him against championship promoters Octagon Motorsport, whom he claimed had failed to listen to him regarding what he saw as safety problems with the Silverstone and Brands Hatch events.

He also openly criticised the re-profiling of the Dingle Dell corner at Brands, stating that it had lost much of its character and challenge.

However, the position of riders' representative is decided by the riders themselves and Octagon have no influence in the matter.

Octagon released the following statement regarding Ingley's position:

"Superbike International, having consulted the riders of the Superbike Top Teams, informs that Mr. Peter Ingley is no longer the riders representative and that he is therefore not entitled to take any official position on their behalf.

"Accordingly, any declaration/comment offered by Mr. Ingley as far as the Superbike World Championship is concerned should be regarded as being of a personal nature."
