Having been drafted into the team on the eve of the 12th World Superbike Championship round at the Nurburgring, Lorenzo Lanzi is set to see out the 2012 season with Effenbert Liberty Ducati.

The experienced Italian made a surprise appearance on the Ducati 1098R in Germany as a replacement for Jakub Smrz, the Czech rider having seemingly fallen out of favour with the management during the team's self-imposed sabbatical between the British and German rounds.

Going on to score two points on his return, Lanzi has been listed with the team for this weekend's WSBK round at Portimao and is expected to be present at the season concluding Magny-Cours event.

Smrz, meanwhile, will make his British Superbike Championship debut at Assen this weekend after being signed up to ride with Splitlath Redmond Aprilia.
