GBmoto has announced its plans to graduate to the British Superbike Championship in 2012 by penning a new deal with Tristan Palmer.

The team made is currently competing in the National Superstock 1000 series with Palmer riding a Honda at its helm, the 29-year-old currently fourth in the standings despite being docked 50 points for a technical irregularity mid-season.

As such, as part a bold five-year-plan, GBmoto is looking to translate that success on the Superbike stage with Palmer, who last competed in the premier class in 2009 and finished tenth overall aboard a privateer Honda in 2008.

"I'm very pleased to sign for GBmoto Racing again for 2012. The team are very professional and have done everything the right way this year. I had a number of other options to choose from for next year, but GBmoto Racing have big plans, which I want to be part of.

"I know they will have the bikes, infrastructure and people in place to make a really strong attack at BSB in 2012. I'm excited by the new BSB rules, as they should really level the playing field."

GBmoto, which is hoping its decision to sign Palmer will aid its chances for getting a spot on the 2012 'elite scheme' BSB grid, is yet to confirm which machinery it will use in 2012.

"Tristan has ridden brilliantly this year and has been an asset to the team on and off track," said GBmoto team manager Mark Smith-Halvorsen. "Few know of his ability to develop race bikes and extract the best from the chassis and engine combination - which is key to performing well in BSB.

"He has good Superbike experience and I expect him to surprise a host of people next year. I know his physical and mental toughness will be more than a match for the job ahead in 2012."

Together, Palmer and GBmoto have won three National Superstock rounds at Oulton Park, Croft and Knockhill.
