Mainwaring ruled out, Hillier to replace

Howie Mainwaring has been ruled out of the opening round of the 2014 MCE British Superbike Championship at Brands Hatch after dislocating his shoulder in testing at Snetterton.

Following an interrupted BSB campaign in 2013 that started with MH Kawasaki and finished with Tsingtao WK Kawasaki, Mainwaring heads into 2014 having secured a deal with Quattro Plant Kawasaki alongside Dan Linfoot.

However, a tip during pre-season testing at Snetterton has left him nursing a dislocated surgery that has necessitated surgery, thus ruling him out of the opening event.

As such, he will be replaced by James Hillier, the 2013 Isle of Man TT Lightweight winner returning to the series and team he competed with in 2012.

"Whilst it's a great opportunity for me to ride it's a shame it's under the circumstances of Howie being injured and I hope he is back soon. I will certainly be doing my best to try to pick up a few points and I am excited at being back for the BSB opener at Brands Hatch."
